Doing Political Philosophy Right: Which Graduate Schools To Go To?

Some of us are occasionally asked what universities we recommend to right-leaning students who desire to work on political philosophy in graduate school. In no particular order, here is a quick list of schools that have some right-leaning faculty members conducive to doing political philosophy:

  • University of Texas-Austin
  • Baylor
  • University of Dallas
  • Arizona
  • Arizona State
  • Tulane
  • UC Boulder
  • Catholic University of America
  • Bowling Green
  • Georgetown
  • George Mason (masters only)

It probably does not need mentioning, but there are some fair-minded leftists worth studying under as well if one prefers learning from someone with opposing views. Also there are universities not mentioned that have some conservative philosophers but who do not work on political philosophy. Readers are encouraged to offer their critiques as well as other suggestions, particularly about graduate programs outside of the U.S.
